Hoodoo Sen Moise (Foknanpwen Bon Hougan) was a Hougan Asogwe (High Priest) in Haitian Vodun, a Tata Nganga (High Priest) in Palo Mayombe and a southern conjure man. He traveled the country teaching the methods of conjure, with an emphasis on the importance of the veneration and honoring of our ancestors. It was his desire to be a conduit of change, and to help bring about change for those who had a desire for it and spiritual work. He once told me, "I am a priest and a servant first before I am anything else".
He lived in New Orleans and began learning the practices of Southern Conjure at the age of four. He was the owner of Conjure New Orleans Magic Co. and in 2018 he authored the book, "Working Conjure, A Guide to Hoodoo Folk Magic" and had appeared in countless radio interviews, podcasts and television shows such as Penn & Teller's, "Bullshit".
He was loved by many, widely respected in the spiritual community and is now among the ancestors he held so dear.
Read my blog interview with him here
On a personal level, he was my best friend, partner in crime and my fellow shenanigator (if you know, you know ;) ). To me, he was family- a shining light in my world and a blessing to my life in more ways than I could possibly tell here, and mere words cannot describe how much I will miss him or how his passing has left a hole in my heart and in this world that will never be filled. So many people's hearts he touched, so many lives he changed. So many times he saw in me the potential for what I could not see in myself. So many memories filled with laughter...
...I will love you always, I will miss you forever, and one day, I will see you again.
